In the laboratory courses you apply the contents of the lectures and consolidate them. The laboratory courses prepare you for the independent scientific work in the further course of your studies.
Undergraduate Physics Laboratory
In the Undergraduate Physics Laboratory you apply the contents of the experimental physics lectures and consolidate them.
You will gain experiences and acquire skills in planning, performing and evaluating basic experiments in the fields of mechanics, thermodynamics, electrodynamics and optics. This includes the operation of laboratory instruments, the writing of laboratory records as well as the graphical presentation and analysis of measured values using scientific software.
Advanced Physics Laboratory
The Advanced Physics Laboratory is the link between the Undergraduate Physics Laboratory and the independent preparation of bachelor, master and state examination theses.
You can choose from over 20 modern measurement and analysis methods. These are similarly used in current physical research at our faculty.
In the whole-time experimental part of the laboratory, you will work on basic effects and methods using clearly structured tasks. You will then evaluate the results autonomously. Among other things, you will determine microscopic material properties and physical constants and discuss their agreement with reference values. You will autonomously familiarise yourself with further scientific literature.
Advanced Laboratory Meteorology
The laboratory "Installation and operation of meteorological measuring devices" within the module "P13 – Meteorological field measurements" is part of the bachelor's programme. It creates a connection to the contents of the lectures and prepares you for the weather briefing taking place during the semester.
The laboratory takes place over a period of two weeks at Außenstelle Zingst of our university. During this time you will carry out meteorological experiments according to assigned tasks. The tasks include performing measuring services, creating an observation protocol, determining the air pressure, wind direction, wind speed or water temperature and creating weather reports. Subsequently you create an laboratory report.
